Radiesse

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a soft tissue injectable implant that was employed in several medical applications for decades before its cosmetic benefits were discovered.

Radiesse is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. The CaHA compound has a long history as a biomaterial in the orthopedic, dentistry, and ophthalmology fields spanning over 2 decades of use.

It is long lasting and does not require a skin test because it is the same mineral component found in our bones and teeth. Radiesse is a safe, effective, time-tested, non-surgical wrinkle treatment that provides immediate results.

What are some of the benefits of Radiesse?

The results of Radiesse are immediate. Radiesse has an added benefit of lasting over twice as long as similar products, such as collagen treatments. The duration of a Radiesse injection treatment varies between 12 to 18 months.

Some other benefits are:

- Radiesse is hypoallergenic
- It is soft and remains pliable for years.
- It is cost-effective because it is long lasting.
- There is no need to harvest tissue from another site on your body.
- Radiesse can be used alone or in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as laser skin rejuvenation, chemical peels or facial surgery.

Is Radiesse right for me?

Radiesse can temporarily eliminate smile lines, vertical lip lines, marionette lines, crow’s feet and other fine lines and small wrinkles on the face. It can also be used to enhance the lips and lift depressed scars.

Radiesse is a great option for people who want to avoid the complications associated with other dermal fillers (such as bovine and solid implant materials). Radiesse stays soft and pliable for years, without the risk of the implant problems associated with other procedures.

Are there any complications associated with Radiesse?

Typical side effects include:

- Swelling or redness (typically subsiding within 24 hours)
- Edema (swelling due to excess water retention)
- Itching
- Discoloration
- Tenderness at the treatment location

Patients should avoid aspirin regimens or other medications that could inhibit the healing process. Most patients who receive a Radiesse injection may return to work immediately following injection.

What can I expect of my results?

Because there is no downtime, you can resume normal activity right after leaving Dr. Cheski’s office. You can expect much smoother skin where wrinkles used to be, enhanced lips, or smoothed-out depressed scars, depending on your treatment.

Any discomfort following the procedure can be controlled with medication. The area treated might have a little swelling, which may last 24 to 36 hours depending on the area treated. There may be some slight bruising at the injection site, which can be covered with make-up.

Depending on the area treated, most of your correction may last for several months or years. Some touch-up treatments may be necessary.

There are many factors to consider in choosing the right Surgeon for your procedure. Dr. Cheski has the experience and knowledge to perform the procedure(s) you desire, improve your self-esteem, and help you look and feel better than you ever have before.
